Understanding Why Your Period Might Be Late

A missed or delayed period can happen for many reasons. It might be early pregnancy, stress, or significant changes to your health like weight gain, weight loss, and illness.

At Dove Medical, we provide lab‑quality, urine pregnancy testing that’s 99% accurate after a missed period. You’ll get results right away, and our registered nurses will talk through what they mean with you.

What You Can Do Now

If you missed your period, it’s time to take a pregnancy test. If it’s negative, try testing in a few days to a week. Sometimes it takes a little more time for the hormone hCG to rise to detectable levels.

You are also welcome to come in for a free pregnancy test at Dove Medical. No insurance is required, and all services are offered at no cost.

What to Expect at Your Visit

During your intake appointment, a registered nurse will administer a lab-quality pregnancy test, read your results, and discuss next steps with you.

If needed, our nurse may offer a limited obstetrical ultrasound, which can show if a pregnancy is developing in the uterus, how far along it is, and whether there’s a heartbeat.

Our Patient Advocates are available throughout your visit to offer confidential, non-judgmental support and help you think through what matters most to you.
